FAQ

Are there any age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions. Jumpers under the age of 18 years require the signature of a parent or legal guardian on their waiver.

Are there any weight restrictions?
Jumpers must weigh at least 80lbs/36kg to jump by themselves. If a jumper weighs less than 80lbs/36kg, they can jump Tandem provided that they fit our smallest harness safely.

Is it free if you jump naked?
NO! Oddly enough, this is most common question we get asked and it is the most common urban bungee legend. We are located in a public Waterpark and therefore a family friendly environment. There is absolutely no naked bungee jumping. You are welcome to change in to swimwear for your jump. If you plan to get dipped into the water this is a wise choice, but you can get dipped into the water in your street clothes also.

Can I jump by my ankles?
We have two methods of harnessing jumpers here at Center of Gravity. The traditional version has the jumper’s main attachment at the ankles. We also have you wear a waist harness as a back up to the ankle harnesses that is separately attached to the bungee cord. For this set up we require jumpers to jump head first, either forward or backward.

The other option is to wear a waist harness and chest harness combination. Here the main attachment is the waist harness and the chest harness acts as a back up and to keep the jumper in a sitting position for the rebounds. In effect this set up acts like a full-body harness with each harness attached separately to the bungee cord. When attached in this fashion, a jumper can be dipped into the water, run off the tower, and can perform a myriad of front and back flip variations during their jump.

Tandem Bungee Jumps are always rigged with a waist and chest harness combination for both jumpers.

We will never rig a Tandem Ankle jump on our site.

What are the health requirements?
You must have no physical or medical condition that would endanger others or yourself if you participate in Bungee Jumping or Rock Climbing, or that would interfere with your ability to participate in these extreme sport activities, including without limitation: BACK INJURY, PREGNANCY, and/or HEART CONDITION. Any specific concerns regarding old injuries or recent medical procedures should be directed to your Doctor. We are not physicians. Bungee Jumping is not that hard on the body. It is mainly a challenge for your mind.

What should I know about the equipment?
We are certified by Bungee Consultants International for general bungee jump operations and rescue procedures. Our equipment is similar to equipment used in rock climbing and mountaineering combined with features from high angle industrial procedures and rescue equipment.

Each element of our bungee system has a back up system to prevent total catastrophic failure. Our Canadian made bungee cords have a back up of nylon webbing (the same material used for harnesses and high angle anchors) woven throughout the cord. So, even in the event of a cord breaking the jumper will still be attached to a safely line. We take every precaution to ensure our equipment is in a safe condition before commencing jumps.

We could bore you endlessly with details on our equipment. In the end, know that even forces in excess of 3000lbs would not come close to compromising our rigging.

Is it any safer today as apposed to 5-10 years ago?
The short answer is "yes" but this is dependant on the bungee site in question. I have seen bungee jumps rigged that I personally would not jump from due to their lack of safe practices. If a site does not operate to the same standard that my site does, then I am not interested in jumping there. One person’s version of a safe system can by different from another person’s feelings on safety. It is a buyer beware circumstance and one always trust their judgment.

After jumping at our site, you will know what a "bomb proof" system is, and what to avoid when travelling around the world.

What safety precautions should I take?
Follow the instructions of the Jump Master to the letter.

How can I prevent eye trauma and back injury?
We have not had any serious injuries on our tower that I am aware of before Sept. 2007. Since that time and the current ownership starting December 2009, we have kept a perfect safety record. If the jumper jumps in the traditional way hanging by their angles (with a waist harness as a back up) then it is not uncommon for the jumper to have blood shot eyes after the jump due to the G forces (maximum of 3 Gs on our cords) and hanging upside down.

As for back injuries, these are extremely unlikely at our site as our bungee cords are of very high quality. We have 5 cords for different weight classes and always use the right cord for the weight of the jumper. This limits the forces experiences by the jumper during the first rebounds. It is actually a very smooth ride. It is a combination of going with the flow of the ride and being strong yet yielding to the forces put upon you. If you try and fight the forces of gravity you will loose and put more forces on your body than if you allowed yourself go with them.

How can I prepare for bungee?
First you must take a ritual bath in the joyful tears of previous Bungee Masters. Then after seeking approval from the Council of Bungee Elders you can begin the 14 year training process of which few complete fully.........Nothing will prepare you for Bungee Jumping. Sky Divers generally find Bungee jumping more intense than sky diving. Ultimately, it is just a ride much like a roller coaster. Just visualize a successful jump. Trust the equipment and its operators and surrender to the experience. There is a great sense of accomplishment after a jump. It is mind over matter. Liberate your mind!

What precautions will be taken for me?

Every precaution possible will be taken for you. You will be explained all of the dos and don'ts and we welcome any question that you may have. Be wary of the mind during a bungee jump as it is the only thing that you have to deal with for this experience. Hyper-analysis of the experience can lead to a mental spiral of negativity and "What if?" thinking. It is that mental state that will prevent you from leaving the tower. It is just a ride. All you have to do is fall and we'll take care of the rest.
